I take back what I said. I am an asshole. A stupid one at that.

Somewhere in my cerebellum, I thought that getting a taste of Aria would put my mind at ease. Show me there is no way the two of us were sexually compatible, and the tension between us was just that; regular, competitive tension.

I never thought I’d be so fucking wrong.

Sure, I had an idea that taking her on the Ferris wheel and confining us to the small space would turn into something—hopefully something that would ebb my curiosity for her—but I had no idea it would make me so much hungrier.

Not once did I consider that I would involve elements of my sexual nature. I didn’t intend to play with her senses, and the reasoning behind it was simple; if she liked it, my goal of ridding me of the ivy on my wall would turn into allowing it to completely devour me. And I’d happily let it.

So for my sake and my sanity, it was going to be a straightforward one-night stand.

But then she went and licked the hot fudge.

It ignited a curiosity in me I couldn’t shake, and my dumb ass just had to explore it further.

When we were young, probably around eight or nine, our parents took us to a monster truck rally. Our tickets were kind of high up, but we had the best view of the whole arena. Aria and I stared in awe at all the trucks and it didn’t take long before we were arguing about which one was best. Naturally, we had to make a bet on which of our trucks would win. I knew it would be the one that looked like a shark, but Aria was adamant it was going to be the one that resembled Frankenstein.

Everything was fine until the event started. Aria probably didn’t even realize it, but before five minutes had even passed, the entire right side of her body was smooshed against mine, and her knuckles were white from gripping the edge of the bleacher. The loud sounds, the vibrating metal seats, the humid air, all of it was part of the experience that comes with a monster truck rally, but for her, she was overstimulated and it exacerbated a fear I wasn’t aware she had until that day. Though at that age, all I was able to pick up on was the obvious—Aria was scared of heights.

Slowly, without calling attention to it, I slipped my hand between the very narrow space between our thighs and threaded my fingers on top of hers.

I remember the way she stiffened at my touch and the way I’m pretty sure my heart was going to fall out of my butt, but a minute passed and she relaxed. There were a few times she shifted at an extra loud part of the show or a big destruction display, but with my hand on hers, she was able to enjoy it.

Later that night, she came to collect my new bottle rocket.
